In this workflow, I’m using 3DS Max with the Floor Generator plugin to create a realistic wood flooring setup for architectural visualization. Instead of loading multiple texture maps, I apply a single seamless wood material and use MultiTexture (a free plugin from CG-Source) to introduce natural color variation across the planks. This technique achieves believable floor realism while keeping the workflow lightweight and efficient—ideal for CGI and architectural visualization projects.

The tutorial demonstrates how to efficiently use Floor Generator to generate parametric floor geometry, apply one PBR wood texture, and unwrap it seamlessly for consistent results. It’s a streamlined method I rely on regularly in my architectural visualization pipelines, and it produces excellent results for both high-quality renders and animations.

For this setup, I’m working with 3DS Max, V-Ray for photorealistic rendering, and Photoshop for post-production. The scene lighting is driven by an HDRI environment map—specifically the Hotel Lookout HDR from the SIBL archive (HDRLabs)—to achieve balanced global illumination and realistic lighting conditions.

Here is the tutorial:
