In this tutorial, I show how to create seamless textures and maps in Photoshop, a key skill for architectural visualization (archviz) and CGI projects. These techniques are essential for preparing textures that will be used in later tutorials, such as brick walls, tiles, and other large surfaces in 3DS Max.
I cover two main tools:
Correcting blown-out areas in source photos to maintain consistent lighting and color.
Removing seams to create truly seamless textures that tile naturally across large surfaces.
I demonstrate these tools using four different textures so you can see my workflow in action. If your texture doesn’t have blown-out areas, you can skip the first step and go straight to handling the seams.
Key concepts covered:
Creating seamless textures in Photoshop
Preparing textures for 3DS Max and V-Ray
Removing blown-out areas in source images
Eliminating seams for non-tiling surfaces
Optimizing textures for archviz and CGI projects
