In this tutorial, I show you how to create photorealistic frosted glass in 3DS Max using V-Ray, ideal for architectural visualization (archviz) and CGI projects. Frosted glass is simple to make: set your material to refractive, adjust the reflection and glossiness, and then lower the refractive glossiness to achieve the frosted effect.
I also reference my previous glass tutorial, which covers the basics of creating coloured and clear glass:How to Create Glass in 3DS Max
This tutorial is part of a series on V-Ray glass materials, which also includes:
Using V-Ray fog for volumetric glass effects
Creating V-Ray glass for windows, with slightly different settings
Key concepts covered:
Creating frosted glass materials in 3DS Max with V-Ray
Adjusting reflection and refractive glossiness for realism
Preparing glass materials for archviz and CGI scenes
Following a workflow for consistent photorealistic glass results
