Architectural Visualisation Tutorial - Using Bump map with Seamless Brick Texture
Architectural Visualisation Tutorial - Using Bump map with Seamless Brick Texture

In this follow-up tutorial, I show how to apply bump mapping when using Bercon Tile and MultiTexture in 3DS Max with V-Ray, perfect for adding extra depth and realism to your architectural visualization (archviz) and CGI projects.

If you’re not using V-Ray, you can achieve a similar effect by creating Normal Maps and applying your render engine’s method for bump mapping. While VRayNormalMap didn’t give the best results in this workflow, using VRayColor2Bump produces clean and realistic bumps.

This tutorial builds on my previous videos:

By combining these techniques, you can create photorealistic brick and tile materials, optimized for both V-Ray renders and large-scale surfaces in archviz projects.

Key concepts covered:

  • Bump mapping with Bercon Tile and MultiTexture

  • Using VRayColor2Bump for better results

  • Applying bump mapping in other render engines using Normal Maps

  • Enhancing depth and realism for archviz materials

  • Optimizing bump for V-Ray and large surfaces
